Universal Healthcare is coming in January!  How will this affect you?

I spend hours every day in my office helping people move from being sick to truly having good health and then supporting each of them to stay healthy and avoid the pitfalls of the Health-Care System we currently have in the United States.  And in January of 2014, our whole Health-Care System is going to change. 

The current plan is, come January 1, 2014, 40 million un-insured Americans will now have health insurance.  Many of those 40 million Americans have put off going to the doctor because they just could not afford to go since they had no insurance.  Being included in the Universal Health-Care System will allow them to have a check-up, have some blood work, have some tests and receive some treatment.  And that is a great thing, as these people who have neglected their health can now receive some form of care.  I will now be one of them.  Yes, for those of you who do not know, and much to the dismay of my parents, I do not have health insurance.  Why would I not have health insurance?  Simply because I will not take the treatments and medication and potential surgeries that the American Medical Association would want me to.  I realize this is Un-American of me and I am not going to take toxic chemicals into my body to artificially regulate what my body should be able to regulate on its own.  I would choose to avoid having parts of my body removed in an effort to keep something from functioning the wrong way and have to deal with no longer having that necessary part of my body.  I instead would choose to be healthy, lead a healthy life, and eat healthy food that is real and not Completely Refined And Processed (CRAP) food so many eat in this country. (I could write a book on the subject of our food industry and what our government has allowed to take place that causes everyone who doesn’t pay attention to what is being done to our food to develop the need for medication and or surgery.  But this is not the time and I don’t choose to overwhelm you with that information.  I would ask you to consider watching this movie preview for "Bought.")  I would choose to be Pro-Active with my health versus the passive way we have come to be about health concerns. And that is my choice. 

The downfall of being given Universal Health Insurance is the mindset that “I don’t need to pay attention to my health because my insurance will now take care of me.”  Besides that mindset being dangerous, it is also not accurate.  Having Health Insurance does not mean you will be taken care of.  Add 40 million people to the already broken system will not allow you to be taken care of.  It will create quite the upset and you will continue to be lost in a system that is not designed to take care of you.  It is designed to make money for the AMA, the Pharmaceutical Industry, the food industry and the government.  If you’d like to learn more about how you and your health has been bought, consider watching this movie preview called “Bought.  And if you care about your health and the health of your loved ones, consider making a donation to the production of this movie.  It will come out, they simply need our help to make it have the biggest impact possible. How Will They See Everyone?

Picture your Doctor's Office and the waiting room.  You know, the place you walk into when you get to the office and then sit and wait with the others there to be seen.  Now picture it with 4 times as many people.  Perhaps more.  Where do you see things getting better for you and your care?  Will it be fair for you to sit and wait longer than you do already for less time with your doctor in an effort to get your health concerns addressed?  How long will you put up with that?  What if it is your child?  How long will they put up with that?  Are you prepared to devote an afternoon or even longer in an effort to be seen by your doctor?  Will it be worth it?  Time will tell.

So what should you consider? 

Suffice to say, if you currently have a health concern, even if you have health insurance, you better take care of it NOW!  You better come up with a plan to get your health as optimum as possible before the end of the year.  Why, because you will never be able to after we add 40 million more people to a Health-Care System that currently cannot support the participants it has now.  So I ask you to answer this question for yourself: Is your health at the level you would like it to be, hovering somewhere between 90 and 100 percent, or is it closer to the 40 percent one needs to be in order to develop symptoms?  If you are somewhere closer to fighting off symptoms as much as you can, currently take one or more over-the-counter or prescription medications, have had some form of surgical intervention already or are a child of a parent who has had surgery or perhaps has already died of their health concerns, you need to strongly consider what I will be sharing next.

The Plan For Better Health

What I will share here is not anything you have not already heard at some point in your life.  Hearing something and listening are two different things.  Being able to act on it is something completely different.  Will you take action knowing your life depends on it?  Time will tell.  And believe me; your life does depend on it. 

1)      You MUST begin to drink more water.  And not the old rule of 8-eight ounce glasses a day, unless you only weigh 100 pounds.  The best formula for the proper amount of water is 1 quart of water for every 50 pounds you weigh, every day.  And if you exercise, you will need to add an additional quart for every 30 minutes of aerobic activity (cycling, running, elliptical, etc.) or for every 60 minutes of weights or other anaerobic activity.  And if you begin to drink more water, you may be surprised to see you begin to lose weight in the process.

2)      You MUST learn to breathe properly.  Most people I have watched are chest breathers, meaning they take a breath in and their chest expands and their shoulders rise.  This is improper if you want to be healthy.  The correct way to breathe is to take air into the lungs, the lungs expand, the diaphragm moves down and the belly pushes out.  And when you breathe out, everything relaxes back to normal.  By belly breathing, this helps increase the oxygen utilization in the body, allows for massaging of the digestive organs and results in better digestion and elimination.  This will greatly eliminate the chronic constipation so many have.  This alone will be a big difference maker for your overall health.

3)      You MUST Eat better quality food.  This doesn’t mean you need to become a puritan and only eat organic food or become a vegan.  NO!  What it does mean is to eat more vegetables and fruits, versus drinking them or not eating them at all.  We all know the benefit of getting more fruits and vegetables.  Unfortunately, not enough of us doeat enough.  We need to eat less red meat and stick to the healthy fish a couple of times a week or more.  Chicken, turkey, pork, and duck are better choices for protein sources.  Increase you nuts and seeds and make sure they are not roasted, as this destroys the health building oils in them.  Consider making a hearty salad every day with nuts, seeds, fish or chicken and using extra virgin olive oil with lemon as a dressing.  This will help your health tremendously.  Don’t be afraid to try some non-gluten grains like, quinoa, amaranth, millet or wild rice.  Stay away from wheat products like pasta and breads.  Stop eating potatoes and all the other foods that are white and refined and come in a package like cereals.  Take the time to cook your meals so they are fresh and not packaged.  Consider making your own cereal by purchasing raw nuts and grains from the healthfood stores and putting togehter a Muesli with nuts, oats and dried fruits.  It is very filling and doesn't take long to make a weeks worth.

4)      You MUST get better sleep.  This means getting the television out of your bedroom and stop watching television or being on the computer right up until bed time.  Allow yourself to wind down about an hour before you go to bed.  Perhaps do some reading of something that you enjoy.  If youy want to go to sleep quickly, read an advanced chemistry book.  The material alone will put you to sleep.  Make the room you sleep in comfortable.  Consider getting a new mattress if you haven’t gotten a new one in 20 years or more.  There are mattress companies who manufacture organic mattresses where you can get a tax write-off if you need a new one to support your health.  You will need me to write you a prescription for that if you want to take advantage of it.  Flip and rotate your mattress regularly.  I recommend doing it at the beginning of every new season or 4 times a year.  Evaluate your pillow to make sure it supports you and supports your ability to be comfortable and sleep.  Keep the electric appliances like alarm clocks away from the head of your bed.  The EMF’s from the clock will affect your ability to sleep properly.

5)      You MUST exercise several times a week.  This does not mean you have to go to the gym or buy expensive gym equipment in order to exercise.  Simply going for a walk or light run 4 times a week of no less than a half hour would be hugely beneficial.  Making sure to keep your heart rate at the proper level for you health and fitness is vital if you want to keep from creating over-use syndromes and other exercise related injuries.  I can help you understand what that is specifically for your current level of health and fitness.  You will benefit tremendously from using a heart rate monitor that allows you to set your specific health building/fat burning zone.  It will allow you to get the best results in the shortest amount of time.

6)      Finally, you MUST have a health plan and a health coach to help you implement your health plan.  That is where I (or another practitioner) can help you get the most out of your health and your life.  This will most likely require you to step outside of the Universal Health-Care Plan they will be offerring.  Why?  Because the plan that will roll out on January 1, 2014 will be designed to make the most amount of profit with the least amount of actual care possible.  There will be lots of screenings and testing designed to cause you to get life-altering treatments and many different prescriptions designed to kick the problem down the road to be dealt with later.  This is not going to be a pretty scene, I promise you.

Please appreciate that you always have the more invasive surgery and prescription medication available to you as a last resort. What many Traditional Medical Doctors may not share is, many times, once you begin that journey into medication and/or surgery, it alters your original body from the one that you were born with. Unfortunately, at that time, more conservative and natural treatments may no longer be viable. I encourage you to consider that before making any decisions about treatment for your health.
