Is This A Crisis or An Opportunity?

These certainly are interesting times.  Is anyone (everyone) feeling the stress of the economy?  And I have it on good authority that it will continue to be tight for several more months.  And the Powers That Be are continuing to manipulate the media and the markets in an effort to instill some hope into our society.  And yet people are still shutting down and withdrawing from their normal routines.  What can a person do?

A person can do a lot.  Knowing that the words, "I can't" shut the body down, and several of its cohorts (I should, I must, I have to, I don't know, I'll try, It's hard, There's not enough, etc) support that shutting down, what CAN a person do to support their life going forward?  As everyone around us is feeling the effects, how does one not begin to feel "I can't?"

Think on these words and apply them every chance you find yourself thinking, "I can't" or any of its friends I mentioned above.  These words are vitally important.  What if I could?  Said differently, What can I do?  In other words, what can you do in your particular shoes in this moment of difficulty?  How would things change if you believed that "I can" for whatever reason the first "I can't" cropped up?  These are the important questions right now and for going forward.

There is a notion that in the Chinese Language the symbol for Crisis is the same as the symbol for Opportunity.  So I chose to do some research to truly appreciate the truth in that notion.  In the Chinese language, the symbol for Crisis, or Wei-Ji, is translated to mean Danger-Opportunity.  So although the translation is not exact, it depends on your perspective and how you choose to apply the symbol, and which part of the translation you focus on.  In our current state of crisis, the same is true.  Out of every crisis is born an opportunity to create change.  And it may feel a little dangerous to create change.  After all, creating something new is what brings up our belief of fear.  Our fear of the unknown.  And because of this fear, we resist creating change.  We shut down and stop reaching for life.  Unfortunately, Life is Change, and change happens whether we ask for it or not.  So as long as change is going to happen, we might as well be involved in the process.  We might as well take advantage of the process, sooner rather then later.  Then you won't have to play catch-up with everyone else.  Being at the leading edge vs. bringing up the rear allows for you to take full advantage of the change.  And this is the best time to do just that.  Create change.

So that brings me back to the original questions.  What can you do, and What if you could?  All we're asking for is a subtle change in our thinking.  Going from thinking negatively, with the "I can'ts" to thinking positively with the I cans.  Take the time to ask the question, "What CAN I do, and what would be different if I could?"and then most importantly, be sure to answer the question as many times as possible.  This opens up the creative aspect of your mind and allows all sorts of solutions to begin to appear.  These will be the solutions to this (our and your) current crisis.  And when you get into the mode of thinking this way, your mind becomes an Open Door for Opportunity.

There is an important consideration to make when doing this.  Many of your thoughts might initially seem impractical or impossible.  This is perfectly normal.  After all, you are starting in Crisis Mode, not Opportunity Mode.  The first few ideas may seem completely impossible.  That's the Crisis speaking to you, not the Opportunistic mind.  That's the Danger in the Danger-Opportunity translation of Crisis mentioned above.  Keep the thoughts going though, because from those thoughts, others will join them.  New ideas will emerge from the confines of your brain.  And it is out of that area the solution will be born and the opportunity will appear.  And it is important to stay with the concept of "What CAN I do?"   What are my opportunities?  It is important to write down all of your ideas.  Why?  Because after a few ideas pop out and you write them down, you get into the mode of letting them flow.  And who knows, seeing all the ideas in front of you may allow some of those ideas to become possible after you apply the final one you choose.  And as the ideas begin to flow and you are writing them down, you will find the one that speaks to you most and then be able to choose that idea and put it into action.  This will begin to create change.  Create the change that feels right and supports you moving forward.  Then, out of the Crisis will have been born the Opportunity and it didn't involve any real Danger.  After all, Danger is an illusion when you really look at it.

Your Choice

Health concerns are a major source of lost happiness and lost joy in all of our lives. Finding a solution that is agreeable and enables you to get back to your life is important. Please appreciate that you always have the more invasive surgery and prescription medication available to you as a last resort. What many Traditional Medical Doctors may not share is, many times, once you begin that journey into medication and/or surgery, it alters your original body from the one that you were born with. Unfortunately, at that time, more conservative and natural treatments may no longer be viable. I encourage you to consider that before making any decisions about treatment for your health. As always I am here to help.
