When you go to your doctor, what are you paying for: A Classification Diagnosis or an Etiology Diagnosis?

What’s The Difference?

A Classification Diagnosis is one that looks to identify the characteristics of how the problem presents itself.  It looks to put you in a group with all the others within the classification that present in a specific way regardless of what has created the concern.  It looks to label you and creates a new identity for the individual with the concern.  What exactly is the classification?  It is a reactive pattern the physical body can take based upon how the problem is internalized and reacted to by the person/body.  Treatment for the Classification Diagnosis is usually oriented to relieving the symptoms of the problem, while the cause of the problem is given little to no concern.  The result is the treatment, usually medication, will go on indefinitely as the underlying cause of the problem is never addressed.  This form of care is life-time treatment designed to keep you symptom free.  Eventually though, this will lead to bigger problems since the underlying cause is never addressed.

An Etiology Diagnosis is different from the Classification Diagnosis in that it will identify the cause of the problem, and the condition as a whole is understood before rendering treatment.  This is important if you would like to truly remedy the problem versus masking symptoms with medication.  An Etiology Diagnostician is one who knows they need to look for the “mechanism of action” that causes the body to react with the characteristics that most physicians will look to classify for their diagnosis.  This is a big downfall within healthcare, never considering the mechanism of action.  It will result in a big windfall for the treating practitioner and staff because the underlying condition is not being addressed, thus leading to life-time treatments.  The Etiology physician will always look for and understand the mechanism of action first, before designing a treatment program that will address the cause of the problem.  This, obviously, will be much more effective and have much better results.  It also will not take a lifetime to remedy.  You get to go back to your life istead of making your life about treatment.

Your Choice

Appreciate that your health concern was created by you based on the life you lead and the reactions you have to that life you lead.  When you go to your doctor, remember that they work for you.  They are your employee you will hire to help you resolve your health concern.  As their employer, it is your job to make sure they do their job.  This means you need to know if you are hiring a Classification Doctor who will give you a name and treat your symptoms, probably for the rest of your life OR an Etiology Doctor who will help you understand the mechanism of action that caused your health concern.  They will then help you to address the underlying cause of your specific imbalance by helping you understand the mechanism within your life that lead to the problem.  They will also help you create the necessary change within your behavior to allow you to experience a new, more desirable outcome to your health.  Wouldn't that make you feel better? 

Classification is so important in society, as we all want to know where we fit compared to everyone else.  Comparing yourself to others is the quickest way to mental unrest, ultimately leading to health imbalances.  Understanding and addressing the mechanism of action behind the specific imbalance within the individual, unique to that person, is the best form of care you could ever receive.  This puts the individual back in charge so they can take ownership of their unique health concern and avoid a lifetime of classification treatment.  And by focusing on yourself, without comparing yourself to others, this will allow you to lead a much better life that you can enjoy.
